Perth Airstep Exchange 2020

Two full days of training aerials.

Registration is open for these new dates. If you registered for the event that was supposed to be in May, you have been automatically shifted to the Sept event.

PAX ran so well in 2019 that we will probably run it very similar to that in 2020.

What to bring?

  • Water

  • Snacks

  • Activewear. What would you wear to the gym? You need lots or range of motion, no loose pieces of clothing so you don't get tangled or caught up, and nothing metal that could injure your partner or spotters. Anyone wearing inappropriate clothing like skirts or belts will not be allowed to participate.

  • A spare t-shirt or change of clothes.

FRIDAY

You know the drill. Come dance to live music! Adam Hall will be playing and all the PAX instructors will be there too so we're hoping to see you all there.

Mustang Bar Social: 7pm - 9.30pm

SATURDAY

Classes will start at Yokine, but then during lunch we'll move to Cirquest in North Perth. Also there is a secret Saturday evening session if you're keen.

Stirling Community Centre - Yokine. The Craft Room: 9.30am - 2pm
287 McDonald Street, Yokine

9.30am - TRUST: The most vital part of this weekend from our point of view is the Trust session. It is mandatory for everyone to attend this session. We will be doing games and drills as well as setting ground rules, terminology and technique for airsteps AND spotting. All of these will be used throughout the weekend hence why we need everyone to attend this session.

11.30am - Break

12pm - SKILLS #1: Beginner, intermediate or advanced traditional airstep. Pick and choose the airsteps that you want to do. During each Skills hour there will be 3 different moves all taught simultaneously. The teachers will show all the options before we split up into our 3 groups. You can then choose which group to join. You are also welcome to switch groups or take breaks at any time during the hour.

1pm - SKILLS #2: Beginner, intermediate or advanced contemporary/novel airstep.

2pm - Lunch AND Venue Change. You have an hour and a half to have lunch and get to the next venue. If you bring your own lunch, there is a microwave available at Cirquest, otherwise there are cafe's and a Coles in North Perth on Fitzgerald St.

Cirquest 3.30pm - 5pm
17 Howlett Street, North Perth

3.30pm - CONFIDENCE #1: Learn to throw yourself into circus acrobatics. But don't worry the instructor will cater for all levels. We have a circus instructor coming to teach adult acrobatics to improve your own personal body awareness and control. Isaac taught last year and lucky for us he will be back teaching us again.

5pm - End. That is the official end of our Saturday, however, a few of us will be getting pizza and chips, then just hanging out at Cirquest for the secret session.

Cirquest 5pm - 8.30pm
17 Howlett Street, North Perth

6.30pm - Secret Session. Do you want to just hangout at the Circus space? Stretch out those sore muscles, try some juggling, practice some tricks or just hang out/have a dance. Completely up to you.

8.30pm - End.

SUNDAY

Today we will be at the same venue all day! There is no specific lunch break, you can choose to eat whenever it suits you. We also have an open session so you are welcome to request airsetps, or recap anything you like. Then afterwards we will be heading to Beatty Park pools to have a soak in the spa or relax in the sauna so make sure you bring togs and a towel.

Cirquest 9am - 4pm
17 Howlett Street, North Perth
